Ellie Mae’s 03 Month Photos!

Stats

No updates here… her next Doctor’s appointment is at four months old. Her eye color is still blue though.

I have created a “Firsts” page to document her first times / milestones: http://elliemaehynds.com/firsts/

Still loves being carried around in the ErgoBaby Carrier, especially when she is getting tired and wants to fall asleep. She also likes it when I do lunges and squats while she is in the carrier… I think the movements must simulate what it felt like in the womb.

Sucking her thumb.

People watching / Staring at people’s faces and looking at herself in the mirror.

Mommy’s big smiles!

Being read to.

Boobs (eating 😀 )

Update

I don’t have much to update on. Nights are a lot better since her 2-month mark. I know I shouldn’t make comparisons between Hank and Ellie Mae… but as I watch her develop, memories of Hank as an infant flood back. I recall Hank being kinda a “spazz” / “ball of energy” at three months.  We would put him in the activity mat/gym which plays music, lights up, and has tons of dangling toys to bat at. He would go NUTS with it, crazily hitting the dangling animals with his hands AND feet. He could go at it with so much zest for what seemed like forever. He would always end up conking out under the mat. Ellie Mae is the total opposite of him. When I park her under the mat, she will lay and watch the lights and make “deliberate” bats at the dangling items.  Basically she will hit the toy then watch it move for a few seconds before making another hit at it. The total opposite of a “spazz.”

I tried out reading to Ellie Mae a couple nights ago and to my surprise she actually enjoyed it.  I remember Hank not liking to be read to until he was about 9 months old. Ellie, though, actually focuses her eyes on the pictures. She gets so focused that she tries to move her head as close to the book’s pages.  Last night she even stretched her hands out to touch the book.

Lastly, I have noticed that Ellie Mae takes a lot of interest in people and people’s faces. Hank at 3 months really loved movement; I would play Piano Guys on the TV and dance/bounce around with him. He also loved being rocked in the rocking chair and loved being flown around the house. Ellie seems more content to just sit and watch Bob, Hank, and I eat dinner and converse with each other. She isn’t really into lots of movement or even into toys. Of course, this may all change as she grows.

Consequently, I do think Hank has more of an external/forward-pushing energy while Ellie Mae’s energy is more internal/calmer. If that makes any sense.

Oh, Ellie Mae is also a major “talker” unlike Hank at 3 months. She “squawks” a lot and babbles. I feel like Ellie Mae is more motivated to try to communicate with us through babble/talking than Hank was at this age.

One last thing, Ellie Mae will, although rare, surprise us with the biggest, most-expressive smiles. She usually will give them right after a good nursing (she really loves to eat!).

We still have not gotten her to laugh though!
